
Obituary of John Edward Brooks
John Eward Brooks, Sr., affectional known to some as Mule Train, Teddy Bear & Papa John, was born on September 4, 1950 to Albert and Sarah Brooks.
John transitioned from this earthly life on September 5, 2023.
John is preceded in death by parents Albert and Sarah Brooks, brothers, Albert Brooks, Jr., Melvin Brooks; sister Virgina Ann Brooks and son John Brooks, Jr.; grandparents George and Annie Brooks, Reverend Sam, and Sarah Hendricks.
John attended Brentwood Elementary School, Natchez High and graduated from Franklin High School. John would always be a Natchez High School Panther colors gold and blue. John tried a little football, but his love was playing in the band. He played the trumpet mostly and a little guitar. John had the opportunity to play his trumpet at the start of each race at the Brentwood Iroquois Steeplechase, which was a first for a black person.
We were so proud of him. John helped his father on the Sloan's farm, then he ventured out to work at the Ellington Agricultural Center. Later he enrolled in the OIC program where he learned a trade and became a certified electrical worker. Later to become an employee of NES Nashville Electric Service) he started out as a Linesman on the truck, and he move up and retired from NES as a System Control Supervisor. John was also a Mason and a member of Capitol Hill Lodge #251.
John had many hobbies, just to name a few he loved fishine. cooking, especially on the grill. John hands were really gifted like his Father.
John turned seventy-three on September 4, 2023. John was overjoyed at the songs, phone calls, text and Facebook ) messages that he received from family and friends. The Lord allowed him to see and enjoy his birthday!
