
Obituary of Clarence A. Barnes
Deacon Clarence A. Barnes was born on February 28, 1937 to the late Deacon Hattie D. Barnes, & Mother Mary Mabry Barnes. Clarence was married to Mary Lee Bradly who preceded him in death. He also had a son, Clarence A. Barnes, Jr. who preceded him in death. He went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 2, 2023. Deacon Barnes was educated in the Metro Public schools. He retired from the TSU Security Department.
Deacon Barnes was a lifelong member of Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacons Board for over 60 years until his health prevented him from serving. Deacon Barnes served together with his brothers the late, Robert St. Clair Barnes and John W. Barnes on the Deacons Board for many years. They along with the Barnes Family were members of what is called the Una Connection. Watson Grove was a little country church that originated in Una, Tennessee and this family were very active in the membership.
He leaves to cherish his memories children, Sharon (Tony) Batey, Michael (Shirley) Barnes, Christiana Barnes, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and devoted cousins.
