Obituary of Natalie Yvonne Hunt
Natalie Yvonne Hunt, 68, of Nashville, TN., received her wings on February 19, 2023 after suffering a long battle of illnesses. Natalie was born on February 23, 1954 in Virginia Beach, VA. Natalie graduated Pearl High School in 1972 in Nashville, Tennessee where she was nicknamed 'Red' because of her long beautiful, flowy red hair. She went on to further her education and began working for Metro Nashville Public School Board-Psychology Dept. for 44 years. She retired from Metro Schools in 2019.
Natalie is preceded by her mother Marion Simms, her father George Elam, and brother William Elam. She is survived by her four children Tina (Adrienne) Samuels, Rhonda Hunt, Tymekia (Courtney) Poe, and William Grigsby II, her grandchildren Sydney Hunt, Taylor Clark, Cameron Clark, her brothers George (Ruby) Elam III, Lorenzo Elam, and sister Loretha Elam and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her dearly.
Natalie's hobbies included tennis, dancing, listening to music, shopping on Amazon, looking at old westerns, making stationery and absolutely loved bowling. She bowled in various leagues for many years, won several trophies and badges. She was also a Majorette at Warden Jr High school in Nashville, Tennessee in 1969 and attended a Baton twirling camp at the University of Knoxville. She enjoyed twirling the baton.
Natalie's love and faith in GOD is what kept her heart at peace and full of joy. At an early age, Natalie joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee where she assisted running the food line to help feed college students, assisted with Project 2000 in creating all the programs and stationery for the week's activities and her biggest joy of all was being a member of the choir with her children.
Natalie was simply a kind and gentle soul. Her life and love will live on through her children and grandchildren. If Natalie had her way, treating people kindly and showing love to others at all times would be a law. She will be sorely missed by those here who loved her most, but GOD called her home because he loved her more.
