
Obituary of Mildred Lee Clyde
We are sadden to announce the passing of Mildred Lee Clyde. She departed this life at the age of 96 years old, on October 15,2022 at her home.
She was born February 17, 1926 in Nashville, Tennessee to Father Willie Lee Dyer and Mother Georgia Foster Dyer, who proceeded her in death. She married her long time love, William Edward Clyde, on September 3, 1945 in Nashville, Tennessee.To this union, two daughters were born, Barbara and Claudette, respectively.
Mildred was a 1943 graduate of Pearl High School and received her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Science in Guidance and Counseling from Tennessee Agricultural and Industrial State University in 1957 and 1972 respectively. Mildred was employed by the State of Tennessee as an Employment Counselor/Supervisor and retired after 40 years of service. During this time she received an award from the National Board for certified counselors. Mildred was a member of Seay Hubbard United Methodist Church where served faithfully until her death.
Mildred was an avid bowler and instrumental in co-founding the leagues that traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio annually to compete in the Hoinke Classic bowling event for 25 years consecutively. She also bowled in numerous local leagues and bowled with the Monday Seniors group for the last 15 years. She was a dancer with the Looby High-Steppers and enjoyed traveling and performing with the group. Mildred played bridge once a month with her Bridge group, The Sophisticated Ladies and fun was had by all. She was also active in the Fisk park neighborhood.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years,William Edward Clyde, daughter Barbara Jane Clyde Sharp, and sister, Georgia Mae Dyer Gooch. She is survived by her loving, devoted daughter Claudette Lanise Clyde, Grandson DameonJay Brian Sharp, loving cousin Ernestine Foster, loving son-in-law David Sharp and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, Nashville Chapter and Tennessee State University Foundation in Loving Memory of Mrs. Mildred Lee Clyde.
