Obituary of Richard Okojie, Jr.
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Okojie a.k.a Baby Boy, Rico, Rick, aged 33, left this earthly home on Friday, April 8, 2022, after a brief and unexpected illness. Richard was born on April 12, 1988 to devoted parents, Olumese Okojie and Andreas Patterson Okojie. He was the youngest of 6 children and only boy. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Margarette Dupree and Joe Clayton as well as Sametu Okojie and Okojie Egbor.
Richard confessed his life to Christ and joined Victory Church in his twenties, under Bishop Kenneth Dupree.
Richard was a hard worker and enjoyed working a multitude of jobs in various industries. He worked for Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, Hermitage Hall, and his last job was working for the Juvenile Detention Center. He truly enjoyed working with kids and loved having a positive influence in their lives. It was his mission to serve as an example of how through hard work anyone can overcome obstacles they are faced with in life and accomplish their goals. Richard was a devoted father that loved his children with all his heart.
Richard was a graduate of Tennessee State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Anyone that knew Richard knew that he was fun to be around and was always joking and laughing with everyone. He was truly a bright light that has left us far too soon.
Richard is survived by his parents, sisters: Dr. Johnequia Patterson, Antoinette Okojie, Richeena Okojie, Richauna Okojie, and Richandra Okojie. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, two daughters: Leah Skii and Laila Starr as well as their mother Breona Drummond, uncle Arthur Patterson (Carlisa), aunts Audrey Parker (Victor), Adelia Parker (Jeff), and Alicia Patterson. Nephew Cameron Burnette, numerous cousins, friends, and family are left to mourn his passing.
The service will be live streamed on Facebook at Lewis-Wright FD.
