Soror Gwinnette and I hit it off immediately and became friends at TSU. We shared mostly all classes as Bio-chem majors and we were line sisters, pledging Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She had a very kind and loving spirit and took in each moment with a pleasant attitude. I fondly remember going to her home one holiday during college because being from the north, I couldn’t get home for each break and Gwinnette and her family welcomed me with open arms. We remained close after graduation. Gwinnette was in my wedding and we kept in touch until I moved over seas. We met up again for a homecoming and a few Sorors and I went over Gwinnette’s home with her husband and family. She was the same Soror, full of smiles, loving and kindness. I will never forget her.

My sincere condolences to Dr James Ladson, Vincent and Taylor. My heart was broken to hear of Dr Ladson passing. She was an excellent Doctor, warm and kind -hearted. She had a smile that lit the room. I worked with her NGH. My niece was her patient. I remember my niece went to her baby shower in Clarksville TN. While there she didn’t feel good and mom took her to one of the hospitals in Clarksville. My sister called me and said I was going to be a great aunt in a few. Well I told her no, Dr Ladson was her doctor and that she can’t deliver there. So I called Dr Ladson let her know what was going on. I said to Dr Ladson , my niece can’t delivery there. So Dr Ladson had her transferred to General and she delivered late that night. A 3lb boy. She will greatly be missed.

Words cannot express the sorrow that I feel for the passing of Gwinnett. For the time I have known her, she always personified a vibrancy for life and hard work, caring and sharing with friends and more importantly her family. She lived a life who’s worth and contributions cannot be measured.
For those who knew her, you know just how special and important she was to Meharry, her profession, her patients, her students, her family, her colleagues, and her friends. She was known for bringing joy and smiles into every room she entered. Anyone needing a helping hand could count on Gwinnett.
She was beloved and will always be remembered as good, kind, and generous. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of us that cherish her memory.
