I would like to extend my condolence to the family of Professor James Bass(Coach Bass) played an important role in both my life and academic studies. Professor Bass unselfishly mentored me during my pursuit of higher education at Tennessee State University in undergraduate and graduate studies. Coach Bass and his wonderful wife were always gracious with me. I often referred to him calling him by both professor and coach when we talked for hours, he truly was decorated in both academia and coaching. He had a wealth of knowledge in education and athletics. Professor Bass served our beloved alma mater as a student athlete and continued at a Tennessee State University completing his masters degree. Coach Bass until his passing was always about the land of golden sunshine ( TSU).

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend of over 50 years, James I. Bass. We will always remember James for the passion he demonstrated for his projects and work at TSU, the smiles he always brought to a room, and the many kindnesses he showed us over the years. He was a good, kind and family-loving man, who was a loyal friend. We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Beverly and his sons. May God bless you and shower you with His peace, grace and comfort during this very
difficult and sad time. Love. John and Bess Stephens, Atlanta, GA.

The Bass family was one of our first families when our church met at Looby Community Center. James and I became buddies. I bought my first cell phone from him. I used to look forward to having lunch with him at TSU. It was easy to see how much he was loved. A very remarkable guy. God bless Beverly and sons. John and Cathy Gouldener
