William “Bill” Thomas Branch was born on August 25, 1947, to the late Buford and Willie Ann Branch, in Nashville, Tennessee. He transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, May 28, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Bill was educated in Metro Nashville Public Schools. He attended Meigs High School and was a proud Maverick. Bill was active in the Civil Rights Movement, attending sit-ins with his classmates.
Bill professed a saving faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and was a member of St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a proud member of the gospel choir.
Bill served his country by joining the Navy. After serving three years and being honorably discharged, he re-enlisted and served another term.
Bill loved everything about music. He enjoyed listening to and singing it. He was an avid Tennessee State University supporter and Tennessee Titans fan. He loved jewelry, clothes, and shopping. He was an interior decorator and made a mean pecan pie.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Branch; and sister, Minnie Hill. Bill leaves to cherish his memories and continue his legacy, daughter, Yolanda Michelle Pointer; grandchildren, Roderek, Devonta, Camanika, and Alcapone Branch; great-grandchildren, Emalachi, Keyliaja, and Javiona Branch; devoted sister, Brenda Branch Armstrong Hickman; nieces, Susan (Richard) Flagg-Yorke, Darlene Huff, Alisa (Reginald) Ewin, Lanet (Kenny) Keesee, and Brenda Armstrong Hawkins (chauffer); nephews, Clarence Jordan, George (Carol) Hill, Charles (Carol) Hill, and Ray (Glenda) Hill; and a host of other relatives and friends, especially Carl and James.
