CAMMON, W.L.Of Nashville. December 15, 2011. We celebrate the well spent life of W.L. Cammon, entrepreneur, family person, and community leader. Born December 4, 1918, he was the only son of Luther Cammon and Annie M. Meadors Winters. He was a native of Clarksdale, AR and spent his formative years in Louisiana and Nashville, TN. After completing his post secondary education, he attended Tennessee A & I College. He later attended Gupton School of Mortuary Science in the 1940's. He also served his country in the United States Army as a veteran of World War II. W.L was joined in marriage to the late Adelle H. Cammon. In addition to his daughter, Cameila, he was a stepfather to the late Luther Harris and the late Reverend Dr. Odie M. Hoover III. As a curious person and complex thinker, Mr. Cammon was an enterprising gentleman who started and operated a number of businesses. Among them were Cammon Funeral Homes which served the Springfield, Gallatin, and Ashland City communities. At the time of his demise, he was the oldest funeral director in the state of Tennessee. He also opened the Cammon Nursing Home on Katie Avenue and the Cammon Construction Company. He maintained that keen business acumen and forethought his entire life. He was also a founding member of the Faith United Baptist Church in Nashville, TN, where he served as a trustee and usher. W.L Cammon made his transition to eternity on December 15, 2011. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter and caretaker of 12 years, Carmelia Cammon-Brooks; grandsons, Shelton Cammon and Justin Brooks; granddaughter-in-law, Rhonda Cammon; great grandsons, Jaydon Cammon and Jordon Malone; cousins, Barbara M. McWilliams of Tallahassee, FL; Dr. Michael Meadors, Doris Lee and Gwendolyn Williamson, all of Nashville; family friend, Kervoicer Tate; and other family members and friends. There will be a private memorial to praise God for his life. Memorial contributions may be sent to the W. L Cammon Scholarship at John A.
