Velma J. Turner

Velma Jane Turner, age 80 went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of February 10, 2023. She entered this earthly life on March 25, 1942 to the late Mary League Robinson and the late Dixie Robinson.

Velma accepted Christ as her personal savior and was united with St. Matthews AME Church where she remained a member until her passing.

Velma was educated in the public-school system where she graduated from the Historic Pearl High School and continued to further her education until receiving her Bachelor degree in Nursing at Tennessee State University in the spring of 1989.

Velma is preceded in death by her mother Mary League Robinson, father Dixie Robinson; brothers Curtis, James and Leon; sisters Mary and Thelma and granddaughter Kayla.

Velma leaves to cherish her memories devoted husband of 60 years William Earl Turner; daughters; Marian Pearsall, Lisa (Fred) Brooks and Wanda Hampton; sons Curtis (Thessely) Turner, and John (Tammy) Turner; grandchildren, Maurice (Anna) Blackmon, Greg (Michelle) Smith, Robert (Nikki) Blackmon, Jasmine (Tony) Hatcher, Ariel Long, Trey Long; and Jonnae Turner; great grandchildren, Imani, Kaden, Averianna, Brandon, Darien, Kristian, Braylin; devoted family friend, Tony Kimbro and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
