Roxanna E. Box-Butler, 66, departed this life February 4, 2023 with her family and friends by her side due to medical complications.
Roxanna a.k.a “Roxy” was born July 26, 1956 in Nashville, Tennessee to William A. Box, Sr and Lurene E. Abernathy.
Roxanna graduated from Pearl High School in 1974. Soon after, she attended Tennessee State University and graduated in 1978 with a degree in Business Administration focused in Accounting. While attending TSU she pledged Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated being a devoted member over the years.
Roxanna started her professional career at the Internal Revenue Service in 1983 as a Customer Service Representative in Automated Collection Systems. She was an active member of the Nashville Chapter of the Association of the Improved Minorities in IRS (AIM-IRS). Over the years she served as the Director of Fundraising, Southeast Regional Treasurer, and a host of other duties where assistance was needed. She retired from the IRS as a Lead Customer Service Representative after serving 32 years.
Roxanna was preceded in death by her middle daughter Lynn Elayne Butler, her father William “Bebe” Arthur Box, Sr., her sister Camille Darlene Box, and younger brother Roderick Sylvester Box as well as other family members and a few close friends.
Roxanna leaves to cherish her memory her devoted, loving, and supportive husband Paul Butler, children Paulette (Michael) Hogan and Kimberly Butler. Mother Lurene E. Abernathy Box. Brother William A. Box, Jr. Two grandchildren Aaliyah K. Johnson and Micah L. Hogan. Five sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. \
