On October 30, 1949, Robert Lee Alred Jr. blessed the world with his presence. Born and raised in Nashville, TN he was the son of Esther Lee and Robert Lee Alred Sr.
Robert, affectionately known as “Red”, attended Pearl High School class of 1967 and Tennessee State University. Pursuing his music career, Red and his family along with fellow members of Nashville’s own, Dynamic 5 relocated to Long Beach, CA in 1975.
They released their debut album, “Love Is The Key” in 1978 on United Artists. “Love Is The Key” is currently a worldwide collectors item.
In 2004, Red located back to Nashville to care for his mother after the passing of his father.
Red was a devoted member of St. John AME where he served on several ministries.
He is survived by his sister, Donna Alred Hughes (William), his children; Dashikita Alred-Sutton (Marc) and Sean Alred (Catherine). His grandson, Miles D’Angelo, his niece, Ashley Hughes, great nephew Meiko Mason as well as a large extended family.
