Rev. Charles Townsend, Sr.

Reverend Townsend, born on December 28, 1938 to the union of Liska Townsend and Charles-Etta Brown in Nashville, TN. Reverend Townsend departed this life on March 23, 2025, predeceased by his son Marcus Townsend, Sr., sister Ernestine Perkins, brothers Rayfield and Alvin Townsend.

Reverend Townsend graduated from Cameron High School. He was baptized at an early age. United in Holy Matrimony to Hattie Holt Townsend for 60 years.

Reverend Townsend joined Payne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and was a faithful member until his failing health. He also pastored several churches throughout the Middle Tennessee area.

Reverend Townsend leaves to cherish his memories children, Demetria Teasley, Cheryl Copeland, Charles Townsend, Jr., and Rayfield (Meagan) Townsend; grandchildren, Darian, Michelle, Charles III (Tralonda), Marcus, Jr., Grant, Cheyenne, Michael, Kenesha, Nakeytha, Shakeytha; great grandchildren, Charles M., Cameron, and Cayden Townsend; brother William Townsend; sisters, Benthina Nabaa, and Elaine Edwards; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
