Morris Cunningham

Morris Cunningham, age 71, of Nashville, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Thursday, December 31st. Morris was preceded in death by parents, Lexie Sr. and Vivian M. Cunningham, brother Lexie Jr, and sister, Vivian C. Shamlin. Survivors include very special friend,  Delcinia Costa, his sisters, Sally Parks of Laurel, MD; Maxine (Lurried) Vinson, Ann Cox, and brothers Ronald (Janice) Cunningham Sr., Kenneth Cunningham,  brother-in-law, Vaudie Shamlin of Columbus, OH and sister-in-law Eloise Cunningham and numerous beloved nieces, nephews,  cousins and friends.

  Morris a 1962 graduate of Pearl High School and Tennessee A&I State University (TSU) with a BS degree in Aeronautics Education. After graduating, he entered the Air Force and obtained the rank of Captain. He began his civilian career at General Motors and also worked at McDonnell Aircraft Corp.

He returned to Nashville and worked at TSU for over 25 years where he retired in 2010.  He was a lifetime member of St. Luke CME Church.

Visitation will take place Friday, January 8th at Lewis and Wright FH from 2-6pm. The family will also receive friends at St. Luke CME Church on Saturday, January 9th from 11a.m. to the beginning of the service at 12a.m. with Rev. Dr. Ronald Powe officiating.

Interment with be on Monday, January 11th at 11:00am at the Middle TN Veterans Cemetery, family will leave the church at 10:15 am.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Luke CME Church (Tree of Life), TSU Foundation or any organization or charity of your choice.
