Minister Carl Blackman, Jr., was the first child born to the late Elder Carl Blackman, Sr., and Mrs. Martha Ruth-Blackman of Nashville, Tennessee. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the Alive Hospice, Nashville, TN.
Bear was born on June 7, 1968. He attended Glencliff Comprehensive High School, and Prestonsburg Job Core Center.
Minister Blackman accepted Christ at an early age. He professed his calling to preach the gospel while attending Mt. Sinai, Primitive Baptist Church. He was licensed to preach under the authority of Mt. Sinai Primitive Baptist Church, where his father was serving as pastor. Carl also united with Friendship Baptist Church during his Christian journey. Later, he united with McNairy Hill U.P. Baptist Church where he served faithfully as an associate minister for many years.
Bear loved his family dearly. He was the father of four children and grandfather of four. He had a beautiful smile, a humble heart, and a giving spirit. Bear was fondly known for his great sense of humor. He was, as some have said “The life of the party.”
Minister Blackman, Jr., is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Elder Carl and Martha Ruth-Blackman; sister, Leticia Ruth Blackman; favorite aunts, Mary Hicks Boyd-Wynn; and Mother Geraldine Greer; nephew, Deago Blackman; cousin, Tekoa Artrice Boyd Thompson; and a host of other loved ones including grandparents, aunt, uncles, and cousins.
Minister Carl Blackman, Jr., is survived by his devoted and loving children, Carl Blackman, III (Bitty); Vontae Blackman; Cierra and Kierra Scott; Devoted Nieces, Sherry Davis (Lorenzo Morrell), and Le’rondra Blackman; nephews, Anthony T. Davis, and Johnathon Blackman; A devoted first cousin, Elder James N. French, III; Devoted best friend ShaVonda Blackman; brother, Andrew Stewart; and sister, Amondrea Blackman Scruggs (Keith); step-mother, Annie E. Blackman; devoted aunts, Minister Mildred Osteen Bledsoe; Carolyn (Joseph) Crutcher and Betty A. Blackman, Knoxville, TN; great nieces and nephew, Santiana (Buttercup), Ly’ahna, and Deago Blackman. Devoted cousins, Gloria Bell and Delores Howse, Devoted friends, Elder Angela Scales, and Dale (Terria) London; A host of other family and friends.
