Mary Louise Jenkins, beloved daughter of Rev. Charles Edward Jenkins, Sr, and Mrs. Lula Mae Reynolds Jenkins was born on January 26, 1952, in Clarksville, Tennessee. Mary learned the love of the Lord from her father and the power of prayer from her mother who taught her children the importance of the power of prayer. This strong combination inspired her to practice her faith each and every day in how she lived and interacted with her family and the world around her. Mary loved her family deeply and when needed, she willingly provided primary care for her mother and father as they declined in health.
The joy of her life was becoming “Auntie Mary”. Caring for her nephews and niece in their early years was absolutely one of her favorite things to do! As a child of an A.M.E Pastor, Mary lived the itinerate life of her father and mother, moving every five years to a new city! She attended elementary school in Fayetteville, Chattanooga, TN. and graduated from Shawnee High School in Louisville, Ky. After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, Mary developed an exceptional career in retail management. Her strong knowledge of Finance and Marketing allowed her to build a successful career in Retail Management. She successfully managed Susie’s Casuals Stores in Alabama and Florida as well as Woolworth Department Stores in Nashville, TN and Morristown, NJ.
Seeking a less stressful career to suit her quiet spirit, Mary moved to a career with the United States Postal Service in Nashville from which she retired after twenty-nine years. Unfortunately, after retiring, Mary’s health began to decline and in 2017 she moved to Dallas, TX to live with her sister, Charliese and her brother in-law, George, who graciously assisted as her caregivers. In 2020, Mary became a resident of Oxford Glen Memory Care Center in Carrollton, Texas where on February 15, 2024, she peacefully joined her mother, father and brother, Charles Edward Jenkins, Jr. in their heavenly home. Mary is resting with sweet memories of all those she loved and in turn loved her deeply. Our world is a better place because Mary Jenkins was in it!
