Age 94. Departed this life May 16, 2017 peacefully at her daughter's home in Jackson, TN. For 70 years, she was the devoted wife of Rev. William Carter, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was the loving mother of ten children: Lucille Seibert, Brentwood, TN, Geraldine Pitts, Jackson, TN, Alline (Albert) Greer, Tampa, FL, Willie Graham (deceased), Rose (Bill) Ballard and Jannie Williams, Brentwood, TN, William Carter, Jr., (Teresa), Lawton, OK, Dennis (Karen) Carter, MD, Murfreesboro, TN, Cleo Carter, M.D. and Kenneth (Glenda) Carter, M.D. Brentwood, TN, twenty-three grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Public visitation with family Friday, May 19, 2017, from 4:30 - 6:00 PM at Thompson's Mortuary, 150 Volz Road, Ripley, TN. Funeral service Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Fountain of Life Church, 748 Tigrett St., Halls, TN 38040. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made payable to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 19 Birch Bend Road, Halls, TN 38040.
