Dr. Jeanette L. Armstrong

Nashville - Dr. Jeanette Lovell Armstrong passed away November 11, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. James William Armstrong, her daughter Yolanda White, and her parents Earnest and Florence Stewart.

Born October 4, 1939 in Woodlawn, Tennessee, Dr. Armstrong was the oldest of seven daughters. Nurtured by loving, Christian parents, she soon learned the values of a strong family, hard work, and a good education. She graduated from Burt High School in 1957, received her B. S. degree in Home Economics from Tennessee State University in 1961, her M. S. degree from Tennessee State University, and a Doctor of Education at Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. She worked very hard in many capacities at her church. She received many accolades for her administration and community service throughout her career. Jeanette was married to Dr. James W. Armstrong who served her faithfully.

She is survived by her grandson, David B. Todd III, two stepsons, Horace DeWayne (Cowanetta) Armstrong and Vincent (Regina) Armstrong, six sisters, Lottie Marie McCoy, Dorothy Boyd, Betty McGee, Bernice (Harold) Belt, Dianna (Jim) Long, Ernestine (George) Cross, brother-in-law, Dorris Armstrong, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Special heartfelt thanks to Ms. Karyn Clay for her devoted and loving care of Jeanette beyond the call of duty and many thanks to Ms. Janice Brown and family and Ms. Eva Mobley for their dedicated service of care.

Visitation will be held from 10AM to 11AM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 with services to follow at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church, 1203 9th Ave. North, Reverend Joseph Tribble Officiant. Interment will be held after the services at Greenwood Cemetery North, 1248 Dickerson Pike, Goodlettsville, TN. Immediately following the interment, family, friends and church members are invited to the repast at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church.
