On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, James Madison Stone, Jr. “Bubba”, a loving brother and father of five children, passed away at the age of 69.
James Jr. was born on February 26, 1951 in Somerville, TN to James Madison Stone, Sr. and Pearlie Mae (Puryear) Stone.
He was educated in the Davidson County Public School system where he graduated from Pearl High School in 1969 and was later drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, laughter, jokes, funny stories, and his kind, compassionate spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Pearlie Mae Stone, his brothers Joseph Anthony Stone and Dennis James “Lee” Stone, and his second wife Lotta Dromgoole.
He is survived by his sisters Gwendolyn (Fred) Avery, Geraldine (Nathaniel) Mitchell, and Donna Stone; his children, Julia Stone, Sonya Stone, James Robert Stone, Jason Matthew Stone, and Cameron Chatman; an uncle, Jerome Puryear, Sr; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Lewis & Wright Funeral Directors. He will be laid to rest at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Pegram TN.
