Helen Delores Duncan Fisher

April 5, 1939 — January 23, 2025

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the homegoing of Helen Duncan Fisher, our beloved matriarch, who peacefully transitioned to her eternal heavenly home on January 23, 2025, at the age of 85.

Born on April 5, 1939, in Nashville, Tennessee, Helen was a beacon of strength, warmth, and unwavering love. She attended Pearl Cohn High School and later pursued her education at Draughons Junior College as a single mother raising her six children. Helen dedicated part of her career to Metro Parks of Nashville, but her greatest and most cherished role was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love is the foundation of her family, and her nurturing spirit continues to live in the hearts of her many descendants.

To know Helen was to know joy, laughter, and kindness. She had an infectious personality that could brighten any room, and she possessed a rare gift for making others feel seen, loved, and supported. Even in difficult times, she stood firm as a pillar of strength. Although she was a woman of many dreams, she always placed family first. She showered her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with an abundance of love and encouragement. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and resilience.

Helen is now reunited in eternal peace with her parents, George and Susie Duncan; her siblings, George Duncan Jr., Harold Duncan, James Edward Duncan, Rosemary Bomer, Ernestine Martin, Jessie Lee Edmondson, and Emma Lou Duncan; her beloved son, Ralph Edward Duncan; and her precious great-grandchildren, Duane Alexander Wynn and Jordyn Sneed.

She leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories to be cherished by her devoted children: Cynthia Ann Cork, Yvette (Hartley) Ernest, Clevette Smith, Elaine Cato, and James Fisher Jr. Her legacy continues through her loving grandchildren: Latanya Buford, Monaleto Sneed, Tony Smith Jr., Sheritha Smith, Tammy Duncan, Joshua Smith, Monica (Clifton) Crenshaw, Sherika Holman, Shamellia (Joshua) Dunlap, Taila Hendrix, Michaela Sutton, NaShon Kimble, Raquel Cato, Kaci Cato, Jamesia Fisher, Alisia Fisher, Angela Fisher, Andre Williams, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends.

Helen’s love was boundless, and her impact immeasurable. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. We will miss her deeply, but we find comfort in knowing that she is resting in God’s eternal embrace, surrounded by the love of those who went before her.
