Geraldine H. Watkins transitioned on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Geraldine H. Watkins “Deannie” was born on October 14,1949 to the late Della E. Bryson and Joe Haley Sr. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She completed her journey on December 4, 2024.

“Deannie” received her education at Cameron High School, she then attended a nursing program where she later worked ten plus years in her field. Also known as GiGi to most, she was an active member in the Fifty Forward Foster Grandparents program. She spent her days working at Explore Community School as a classroom granny, all while being a helping servant at the Martha O’Bryan Community Center until her illness.

She’s preceded in death by both parents, daughter D’Andrea Whitelow; sisters and brothers Mary Haley, Jean Moore, Joe Stokes Haley Jr., Oscar Haley, and Arlene Haley and Grandson Antonio Whitelow. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her last surviving sibling: Alfred Haley; sons and daughters; Shawn Whitelow (Kimberlyn), Sharon Whitelow (Reggie), James Watkins (Kellie), and Jama Watkins (Spencer); grandchildren: D’Andrea, LaQuita, Craig Jr., Taylor, Lil Steve, Kadeidrea, Tamaira, Lakeisha, Te’Yonna, Thomeka, Tiffany, Kobe, Jordan, Quantez, Kaleb,Terrance, Gregory, Kenesha, Ke’Sean, Malik and Malaysia, eldest great granddaughter Ariana, twenty- nine other great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

The service will be livestreamed on YouTube at Lewis & Wright Funeral Directors.  Please keep the Watkins family in your thoughts and prayers.
