George was born in Marshall County, Tennessee to the late Pearl and Hubert Hardy. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee with his family at a young age.
He attended Nashville Public Schools and retired from the Metro Water Department after 43 years of service. He professed his faith in Christ as a young man and joined with Joywood Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by two children, Jeremy Hardy and Stephanie Hardy and siblings, Charles Hardy, Evelyn Bell, J.D. Hardy, John Hardy and Carolyn Martin.
George leaves to celebrate his legacy and forever cherish his memory, devoted sons, Erin Hardy, Phillip Hardy and Dr. Shawn Pruitt; devoted daughter, Kimberly Thomas; grandchildren, Artie, Jr., Chelsea, Jamese, Jamie, Jordin, Shawna and Shawn, Jr.; great-grandsons, Artie, III and Carter; siblings, Mary Ford, Virginia Fisher, Linda Bradley, Marilyn Ford, David Hardy, Howard Coats and Robert Lee Hardy. He is also survived by his former wife, Thelma Hardy and many other relatives and friends.
