Folia Harris

d. July 3, 2016

Folia Mae Harris was born to the late Repps Batson and Lena Victoria Batson on June 23, 1919 in Clarksville, Tennessee. She departed this life July 3, 2016 in Hermitage, Tennessee.

Her late husband of 65 years, Oney Harris, preceded her in death June 9, 2012. Their love was a love that you rarely see in this day and time. He nicknamed her "Chick" and called her that until the day he himself transitioned to Glory!

She leaves to cherish her precious memory, a sister, Dahlia Batson Parker; niece, Patricia Douglas; nephew, (Mark); great-niece, Marketta Douglas; two great-nephews, Joshua Douglas and Charles Douglas, and two great-great nieces, Jada Duckett and Laurin Douglas.

Aunt Folia would speak of her many friends and loved ones who had gone on and how she missed them dearly. She would at times ask the question, "When will the Lord come and get me? I'm ready to be with Him." A question that we could only answer by saying: in His time! "But when He calls," she said, "I will surely answer Him."

I had many opportunities to sit and talk with my Aunt Folia in the past few months. She would reminisce about us taking the bus downtown to go shopping in the late '60s. She was a wonderful seamstress; therefore, she had made by hand the majority of my dresses as a child, and believe me, they were beautiful.

Aunt Folia was also a dedicated wife and an immaculate housekeeper and cook. I remember her washing clothes and hanging them on the line. After they dried, she would take them in and iron them-including the sheets and pillowcases. That's what I mean by dedication. She did all things in a spirit of excellence.

Aunt Folia didn't have any children, but she had secretly adopted me as her own. There was a bond that she and I shared that I was aware of even as a small child. We had our moments, but at the end of the day, I knew she loved me, and she treated me as if I belonged to her.
Enter into your rest now, Aunt Folia; enjoy your Savior's presence, face to face.
