Ernestine Ross Foster

Ernestine Ross Foster entered this earthly life on Tuesday, March 19, 1940, to the late Ernest and Cannara Foster in Nashville, TN. She departed this life on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Ernestine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a devoted member of New Covenant Christian Church. She received her education in the Davidson County Public School System where she graduated from Pearl High School. Thereafter, she acquired her undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate degrees from Tennessee State University. Ernestine was recognized in 2001 with the Vintage Recognition Celebration Award.

 Ernestine’s professional career in education began in Kentucky. She returned to Nashville where she taught within the Metropolitan Nashville Schools System at Moses McKissack, Wharton and Inglewood Elementary Schools, serving over 40 years in her chosen profession.

 After retirement she enjoyed her time with the Looby High Steppers and the Pearl Cameron Choir.

 Ernestine loved to travel, and she traveled many times abroad and in the United States. She often said she could live on a cruise ship.

 Ernestine was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha (Kappa Lambda Omega Chapter) and National Honor Society of Phi Delta KAPPA (Alpha Beta Chapter).

 Ernestine leaves behind, her first cousin Evelyn Gunn Horad, with whom she cruised to Alaska a few years back, cousins Gay G. Gunn (Marvin), Richard Gunn Jr. (Terry), Derek Ross (Kathy), Leslie Ross-Carter (Andre), Bryan Ross (Gabby), Marvin Gunn III (Nicole) Dameon Sharp, and devoted cousin Clark Walker (Tamara), lifetime friends Evelyn Duke, Mary Hollands, Dorothy Johnson and Debbie Kelly (God daughter), devoted church family and numerous other relatives and friends.

 Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. Ernestine will be missed beyond measure.
