Elaine Hill went home to live with Jesus on Thursday morning, August 1, 2024. She was a devoted mother to her beloved son Derrick, and a dedicated member of Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee.
Elaine was born on July 13, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended junior high school at Emmanuel Brown Training School, where her mother was a teacher. She went on to graduate from Booker T. Washington High School, Montgomery, Alabama, in May 1965, attaining her high school diploma. She continued her education at Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN, where she received her B.S. degree in Business Administration. Her first professional job was also at Tennessee University, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant, for the Dean of Student Affairs Office. Later, she obtained a position at the Owen Graduate School of Management Library, at Vanderbilt University, where she would later retire. Always one to lend a helping hand, after retiring Elaine worked as a caregiver at Progress Inc. She provided love and care to senior citizens in the greater Nashville area, until her death.
Elaine was a born caregiver. She loved Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and she enjoyed visiting sick and shut-in members of the church. Her love of Jesus was contagious!
Elaine leaves to cherish her memories her son William Derrick Hill, her sister Sylvia Wilder (Joseph), her best friend Sylvia Boyd (Gregor), her beloved friend Reginald Etheridge, her nieces LaMonica Gilder (Claude) and Chanda Crawford, sister-in-law Peggy Dunlap and a host of family and friends.
