Annette Chunn, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on April 1, 1935, in Flat Creek, Tennessee, to the late Herbert and Artilee Davis Campbell. She peacefully departed this life on January 24, 2025, surrounded by love and cherished memories.In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William (Billy) Chunn; her eldest son, William Michael Chunn; her siblings, Herbert Campbell, Irene Campbell, Wilma Ijames, and Jane Allen Lanier; and stepbrother, Kenneith Campbell. Annette attended Bedford County Training School, where she embraced her love for dancing, running and cheerleading. At an early age, she was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. In her later years, she enjoyed participating in virtual services at Schrader Lane Church of Christ while residing at the David Jones Assisted Living Center. Annette was united in holy matrimony to her childhood sweetheart, William “Billy” Chunn, on August 26, 1953. Billy, who affectionately called her “Sporty,” remained the love of her life. Very rarely did you see one without the other during their sixty-six years of marriage.
A model homemaker, Annette took great pride in keeping her home immaculate. She delighted in cooking for her family and friends earning a reputation for her delicious comfort food, sweet tea, cobblers, and pies. Alongside raising her children, Annette found creative ways to contribute to the household, including doing hair and selling Avon, vitamins, shoes, Tupperware, and Home Interior. In 1966, the family moved to Nashville, where Annette worked at several factories, including Werthan Bag Company and Northern Telecom. Later in life, she transitioned to domestic work and became a beloved nanny for several prominent Nashville families where she became a cherished part of their lives. Annette was a true fashionista, known for her impeccable style and love of shopping. She delighted in color-coordinating outfits for herself and others, decorating, crafting, thrifting, and gardening. She also enjoyed watching soap operas and hosting family and friends. For many years, she donated blood to the American Red Cross on behalf of her family members, a testament to her generous and selfless nature.
Above all, Annette loved her family fiercely and with her whole heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for those who survive her, including her devoted daughter, Janet (David) Rachel, and her sons, Gary Chunn and Eric (Betty) Chunn. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Danette (Andre) Warren, Mildred Rachel (Atlanta, GA), and Ashley Rhodes; and her great-grandchildren: Pera McMillian, Ava Warren, David Anthony (D.A.) Warren, Jordanlynn Smith, Eric (E.J.) Chunn Jr., and Lady Gray. Annette will also be deeply missed by her sister, Marie (Edward) Castleman of Shelbyville, TN; her sisters-in-law, Hattie Mai Thompson (Murfreesboro, TN) and Barbara Campbell (Little Rock, AR); and her dear cousins, Rosie M. Couch (Shelbyville, TN), Corrinn Manns (Lathrup Village, MI), and cousin in- Annette was united in holy matrimony to her childhood sweetheart, William “Billy” Chunn, on August 26, 1953. Billy, who affectionately called her “Sporty,” remained the love of her life.
