Andrew Lee Foxworth, Sr., affectionately known also as “Pete” was born October 16, 1940, in Harmondale, MO to Gladys Swinger and Eugene Foxworth. He was the second oldest of five children born to this union. He later moved to St. Louis, MO, Tylertown, MS and Chicago, IL where he graduated from Englewood High School. He met his first love in high school and married Lerlene McKee (deceased) and from this union three children were born: Christyl, Lovie and Andrew, Jr.
Andrew attended Woodrow Wilson Jr. College and later enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as an Air Policeman on Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE. Throughout his life, Andrew held many different jobs including working at Allis Chalmers Farming Equipment, Chicago VA Police Officer, MetLife Insurance Salesman, Claims Adjuster for Zurich American, Police Officer for CSX Railroad, certified Hypnotherapist and auto worker for Ford Motor Company of Chicago Heights. He later transferred to Saturn in Springhill, TN. Andrew worked for General Motors for over thirty years before retiring in 2006.
Soon after moving to Tennessee, he met his second love, Mary and fell head over heels in love with her and asked her to marry him on his birthday (as she was the only present he wanted). They married and formed a beautiful, blended family which included: Michelle, Eugene “Geno” and goddaughter, Wanda. His hobbies included reading, listening to jazz music, traveling with his wife, watching sports (especially any Chicago team), watching Westerns, and sleeping in his favorite chair. But two of his best hobbies were eating Bojangles Chicken (his favorite)and keeping his wife happy. He was affiliated with the John Jones Lodge # 7 F. & A.M. Masonic Organization in Chicago, IL. Andrew enjoyed singing (he sang with Raymond and The Love Tones and recorded “I Love Nadine” at the age of nineteen). He was baptized at Timothy Lutheran Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Choir. After moving to Nashville, TN he joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Inc. where he was a member of the Total Praise Choir and Men’s Chorus, until his health began to decline.
A devoted, loving, wise and gentle husband, father, uncle, grandfather, brother, cousin, and friend, there was none like Andrew. He was the kindest, soft-spoken, most loving man who truly loved his family. He is preceded in death along with his parents; his brothers, Otis Foxworth, AlcusFoxworth, and Jermaine Foxworth. On April 2, 2025 Andrew departed this earthly life and leaves to cherish hismemories: His loving, caring, devoted, best nurse and caregiver-his sweetheart wife, Mary; his children, Christyl Foxworth, Lovie (Lamont) Lester, Michelle (Aaron) Griffin, Andrew (Tiffany) Foxworth, Jr., and Eugene “Geno” (Kimberly) Tipton; and goddaughter, Wanda (Larry) Jordan; grandchildren, Sterling, Brittany, Lena, Ricki,Gabriela, Brittney, Sam, Jeremiah, Trinity and K.J.; eldest brother, Arthur (Jean) Foxworth; sister, Lovie Foxworth Richards; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers and friends.
